The Executive Committee, comprised of senior leaders, oversees the implementation of board policies and strategic plans. This committee provides leadership in operational decisions and ensures that the organization’s activities align with its goals and objectives.
SMART maintains a collaborative relationship with government bodies to align its initiatives with national policies and regulations. The organization works closely with governmental agencies to secure support and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of SMART, responsible for the day-to-day management and overall leadership of the organization. The Executive Director ensures the effective implementation of programs and strategies, reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
Donors play a critical role in supporting the financial sustainability of SMART. They provide the necessary funds for various projects and initiatives. SMART ensures transparency and accountability in managing donor funds, fostering strong and trustful relationships.
The Leadership and Administration unit is responsible for the overall management and administrative functions of the organization. This includes human resources, office management, and coordination of different departments to ensure smooth operations
The Procurement and Finance department manages the organization’s financial resources, ensuring efficient budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. This department also oversees procurement processes, ensuring transparency and cost-effectiveness in acquiring goods and services.
The Planning Department is tasked with strategic planning, developing long-term and short-term plans to guide the organization’s activities. This department ensures that all projects and initiatives are well-coordinated and aligned with SMART’s objectives.
The Education and Policy division focuses on developing educational programs and policy advocacy to support sustainable agriculture. This department works on educating farmers and stakeholders about best practices and influencing policy changes to benefit the agricultural sector.
The Lobbying and Advocacy team engages in activities aimed at influencing public policy and resource allocation decisions within political, economic, and social systems. This team works to advocate for the interests of smallholder farmers and the agricultural community at large.
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) department is responsible for tracking the progress and impact of SMART’s programs and initiatives. The M&E team ensures that all activities are effectively monitored and evaluated, providing data and feedback for continuous improvement.
The Community unit focuses on direct engagement with the beneficiaries of SMART’s programs. This department works closely with local communities to mobilize, organize, and support smallholder farmers, ensuring their active participation in development processes and fostering community-driven growth.
