ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

SMART VILLAGE FOUNDATION (SMART) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-ethnic, non-religious and independent Organization that was established in 2011 and later officially registered under the NGO Act No. 24/2002 on June 4^th, 2012 with Reg. No. 00NGO/00005610 with about 17 founding members. The organization is headquartered in Kigoma Municipal. The office may also be relocated to any location to meet the needs of the community in the Tanzania mainland.

The organization was established upon recognizing that smallholder farmers often struggle to capitalize on the growing entrepreneurial opportunities brought by improved agricultural extension services, market liberalization, post harvest handling techniques and private agro-industrial investment in Tanzania.

SMART Village Foundation is dedicated to empowering smallholder and medium farmers in Tanzania. Our mission is to enhance the livelihoods, economic growth, and food security of rural communities through sustainable agricultural practices. By fostering environmentally sustainable farming methods, we ensure long-term productivity and ecological balance, creating a foundation for continued agricultural success.
